Glued to my Crafts: Supply Shopping @Home Depot #Digin #ad

So you all know a few weeks back, I announced my partnership with Home Depot. I'm blessed to be part of "The Home Depot Spring DIY" campaign this year.

Well my friends, it's time to let you all know what projects I choose to do for this series. Are you ready?

Naturally since this blog is starting to focus more & more on child friendly activities, I wanted to do & share some child friendly projects to go along with this great campaign. Plus it wouldn't be the same or fun without including lil man.

So our projects are centered around Earth Day activities for kids. We will be building a compost bin & a birdhouse. And of course, the whole adventure will be shared right here on the blog.

But today isn't about building ANYTHING. (Stay tuned for those posts in the coming days)

It's about shopping! What girl doesn't love shopping? And as a DIY kinda gal, Home Depot is one of my favorite places to get the items I need.

So this past Sunday I made a list, printed off my $5 off $50 coupon and headed to Home Depot to get supplies for our projects. Let's not forget my two handsome boys came along too.

And you see those storm clouds in the picture? The weather man was calling for snow.

No, let's re-phrase that. A blizzard!

But that didn't stop us. So much for spring right? Welcome to Wyoming!

And of course, as soon as we entered the doors, we had to find the "car" shopping cart for lil man. It would not be a Home Depot trip without it. Lil man loves "driving" in it.
Both our projects require wood, so we headed straight to the wood section.

I have to say, EVERY Home Depot employee we ran into, were very helpful & friendly. The employee working the wood section, helped us pick out the best wood for our project and budget.?

I even asked about a pre-cut bird kit I saw online and wanted to purchase in store. Unfortunately, it was an online only item. But to help out, they gave lil man a similar bird kit that they use at their Kid Workshops. Home Depot offers those the first Saturday of each month. I will be sharing our experience with one soon.

Next we headed towards the organization aisle. I don't want to give too much away for what we have planned for our compost bin BUT we did have to get creative with ours.?

Since we are a military family, we rent our home. Because of that, we had to come up with a creative way to have a compost bin in our backyard. The bin has to be portable, suitable for our unpredictable weather and pretty since the landlord wants us to get the yard presentable. Stay tuned!

After finding what we needed in the organizational aisle, we headed towards the planters.

With the dirt from our compost bin, I'm hoping to plant some strawberry plants & herbs with lil man. And {who} could resist that cute owl planter? Not I!

We also made a stop at the paint counter to get paint for our projects.

Who knew if you said "Ohio State" red, the employee would be able to match it perfectly? Cause you know the birds want to rock out in a birdhouse decked out in Ohio State. That was ALL my husband's doing, just FYI.

And while we waited for our paint to be mixed, it was a good excuse to check out Martha Stewart's line at Home Depot. I seriously need to go back & grab some of her paint. Preferably one in EVERY color.

So after about an hour of searching for the perfect items, we were ready to check out.?

We can't wait to get started on our projects. But first, a plea to the weather gods.?

A day after our shopping trip, we got pounded with snow.?
These are pictures from day two of our 3-day blizzard. The last night of the 3-day blizzard, the weather man said we already got 17.5 inches of snow.

You can't really tell from my ruler (which is handy dandy from Home Depot) but in our backyard we got 10 inches total.

Now you see why we have to get creative with our compost bin. The weather here is seriously unpredictable.

So please send us some good "warm" vibes our way in Wyoming. Otherwise, we will be making a snow resort instead of a birdhouse for the birds!
